PRIDE Month Celebration at IBS Bangalore
The Month of June is celebrated as Pride Month. Pride Month was recognized at a time when everyone, from brands to allies, takes time to support and celebrate LGBTQIA+ people in society, showering them with love.
This special time was chosen to commemorate the Stonewall riots of 1968 in Manhattan, New York, USA. While the concept of being gay was not often spoken of or publicly expressed during the 1950s and 1960s due to the pressures of American society and social norms that viewed being gay as a taboo and a mental disorder, there was a population who did not believe in oppressing these rights. As a result, they took a stand against the government.
Uplight-Center of Diversity and Inclusion at IBS organized the 'Celebration and Awareness Drive' for the Pride Month, on 17th June inside the walls of IBS Bangalore
Shivani Ivatury and her team successfully conducted this event under the guidance of Dr. Aruna Bala, the faculty coordinator of this club.
IBS Bangalore takes pride in cultivating an inclusive environment.
